Beautiful images captured of New Zealand mountains, coasts, National Parks and birdlife

I love landscape photography; and it’s no secret that New Zealand has some breathtaking scenery. With such a diverse landscape of mountains, coastline, rivers, lakes, glaciers, islands, and forest; I feel incredibly lucky to call New Zealand my home, and growing up in New Zealand it has given me a love for the outdoors and landscape photography. I’ve been inspired and influenced living abroad over the years, but my heart definitely lies with New Zealand.

Landscape photography is a genre of photography you often have to get up ludicrously early for, hike for miles (sometimes with heavy equipment), endure the at times wet and cold, and after all that, you don't even get to control the light, and you might not even come away with the shot.

So why do I do it in the first place then?

Being out in the forrests with a camera reconnects me with my roots and let’s me get a bit of a fresh air. Beyond that, it's a meditative experience, and it gives me a great chance to clear my mind and reset myself a bit. It's also great exercise, and it combines a lot of the things I love. Sometimes this means discovering places right in front of your eyes that you just never noticed were beautiful before. Other times this means exploring new places and getting out on a hike or nature walk.
